Intergenerational Women's Bible Study Starts Oct. 12 with "Luke in the Land"
In our Bibles, we have four Gospels describing Jesus's time on earth: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The land of Israel, the place Jesus walked and taught during His earthly ministry, is often called the "fifth Gospel."
Victoria Fleischer will lead our study, "Luke in the Land", by Kristi McLelland (Jesus and Women). Over five weeks we will follow the Gospel of Luke from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to the fields of Bethlehem, from the Jordan River to the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and see how Jesus, the Messiah, brought His kingdom to earth for everybody.
McLelland is a biblical culturalist, which means she reads Scripture inside its original historical, cultural, and linguistic world. Each week we will watch a teaching video, filmed at the sites themselves, followed by discussion. Victoria has walked these places herself and will bring her own photographs and stories from the land into our conversation. There is personal study in the book for the days between sessions. If you have ever wanted the Gospels to feel like they happened in a real place, to real people, this is for you.
Women of every age are welcome, and no prior Bible study experience is needed.
